Future college options....?

im a junior in HS, and its at that point where i need to figure out what schools i will be applying to over the next year and a half, i have a strong feeling going in the direction of architecture and any building trades, my father is a carpenter but i want to go further past that. i am looking at schools in NYS, alfred has been the one i gave the most attention- a few questions, 1-any other schools you know that could be options for me, 2 what is the difference between alfred state and alfred university? im not looking at too big of a school but not to small, right now im keeping all of my options open and trying to stay confident. thanks for the help
