Vehicle Repossession Question?

My husband and I experienced a car repossession when we were having a troublesome time. We had many issues in life that put us behind... At this time the finance company wants a lump sum for a settlement. We can not afford to do this right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this...before court proceedings or wage garneshments are placed ?
