Does BBT drop when you spot before menstuation or it drops when the normal menstrual flow starts ?

i normally spot for 2-3 days before mesnstruation. i have started charting BBT this month.I am TTC. I spotted yesterday 7 das prior to my AF date. but i did not see temp drop. Pl give me some more info about it .
