How much power does the neuron release?

The simplest answer would be P = VI = 46 μW, but I wonder if this is some sort of storage/release system, or if there are external circuit elements that would make things more complicated. Was there any context of timing, or external circuit characteristics? What does the neuron do when not resting? Does it "fire"? Like a switch closing? Maybe it concerns resistance, but where would you go from there? Sorry, too many questions!
